John Crane Wins Project to Supply Products and Service for One of Iraq’s Largest Oil Fields

Chicago, Ill (19 Dec, 2013)— John Crane today announced it will supply Italian pump designer Termomeccanica Pompe (TMP) products from across the company’s portfolio for the development of the Zubair Oil Field, one of largest in Iraq.  The agreement covers mechanical seals and systems, high-performance couplings and hydrodynamic bearings used in the 24 centrifugal pumps supplied by TMP.  A service option has been discussed for a later stage once the plants are in operation.

A consortium led by Eni SpA manages the Zubair Project which has a development target of 850,000 barrels of oil per day (bpd) through 2035. It will support thousands of Iraqi jobs and promote economic stimulus for the country.

Dave Hill, John Crane’s Vice President of First Fit Sales and Projects, said: “As a leader in energy services, we’re proud to be entrusted with this large project and contribute to rebuilding and growing Iraq’s oil and gas infrastructure. The John Crane products chosen are highly engineered and have an established track record for reliability which was a key factor for this win given the long duration of the project.”
