Jean Vernet
CEO and Division President
Jean Vernet, appointed in 2017, is the 14th CEO to lead John Crane since its founding in 1917. In this role, Jean has global responsibility for one of the largest divisions of Smiths Group. Jean holds more than 30 years of experience in business development, technical sales and finance, with leadership in various markets including oil and gas, specialty metals, technology, big data, and clean energy, and across services and engineered products.
Prior to joining John Crane, Jean was CFO of Expro, a global leader in critical oil and gas deepwater exploration and completion services. Before joining Expro in 2012, Jean served as CFO of technology companies Grid Net and FormFactor, and as Director of Risk at Rio Tinto Alcan.
From 1996 to 2007, Jean was employed by Schlumberger, a leading provider of technology services for reservoir characterization, drilling, production, and processing to the oil and gas industry. For over 11 years he held positions of increasing responsibility including Finance Director of the wireline business and corporate R&D. Over his career, Jean has lived and worked in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.
Jean earned an MBA in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, and an MSE in Mechanical Engineering from Ecole Centrale de Lyon in France.
